I know it has been a while since I have blogged and I have several great reasons.
1. We are growing!!! I am so happy to announce that I hired an Education Advocate, Anne Marill. What does that mean for you? If you just want some extra support at an IEP meeting and you do not think an attorney is needed, you can hire us and have Anne handle your case. At any point that Anne or you feel that an attorney is needed, I am right there to jump in and handle the issue.
2. We offer Strategy Sessions!! I know I have talked about these before. However, now you can just book a strategy session for any reason. Talk through an upcoming meeting and discuss possible scenarios. Talk through whether the school is implementing your child’s IEP. Discuss whether your child’s placement is the best fit. Any reason at all, give us a call and get on the calendar.
3. We offer Strategy Sessions with document review!! What is that? When you book the strategy session, you tell our staff that you want documents reviewed before the meeting. We can review IEPs and give input on goals, accommodations and other parts. We can review evaluations and make recommendations based on the evaluators recommendations.
4. We do presentations!! Do you have a parent group? A group that works with neurodiverse children? We are available to come talk about any aspects of the special education or 504 process. SMART goals, present levels, transitions…..any area, we can provide information. Check out our presentations page for some ideas of past presentations we have done.
5. We do Facebook Lives (also live on YouTube)!! Currently, on the last Tuesday of every month, I interview someone that works with the neurodiverse community. In February, I had a school based neuropsychologist that explained how to understand evaluation scores! It was so informative. Next week, I have Erik Feig, a mediator who helps families communicate with each other. I cannot wait to get some pointers!! Future guests include an educational consultant, a preschool director, an Estate Planning attorney and more. Would you like to be a guest? Do you know someone that would be a good guest? Do you have a suggestion of a profession you would like to be a guest? Give us a call or shoot us an email with your suggestions.
We hope you are excited as we are about Shefter Law growing so we can help more families have a Stress-Free IEP experience. Please forward this email to any friends or family that you think might be interested.
The amount of value you offer is amazing! So many ways to work with you.
