IEP Part 7: When, Where, How Often and How Long?

Part seven of the IEP is the date for beginning of services and the frequency, location, and duration of the services. Frequency means how often. Location is the least restrictive environment (LRE). Don’t worry, I’ll do a video soon to explain LRE, which is not to be confused with location of services (LOS). Duration is for how long will the services be provided, usually, but not always, the IEP year. Transition IEPs are developed when moving from elementary to middle school or from middle school to high school. Goals and services might look different. Transition IEPs can be challenging, remember the focus is on you child’s needs, not what the school provides. And yes, you can expect a video on that too. Watch the video below for more details on how to make sure that your child’s IEP is clear on when the services are starting and ending, how often services are happening and the location of the services.
