MCPS Superintendent of schools just send an email stating that MCPS will be virtual only for the entire first semester of the 2020-21 school year. Dr. Smith specifically says schools will “remain in a virtual-only instructional model through the first semester—January 29, 2021; or until state and local health officials determine conditions in our county allow for students to return safely after the first semester.” All fall and winter sports are cancelled.
The letter does not mention anything about Special Education services. However, I refer back to my previous blog on what IEP teams should be doing to develop an appropriate distant learning plan for your children. If you have questions feel free to email me at frances@shefterlaw.com or call me at 301-605-7303.
